I'm guessing here (I missed last weeks B5), but I THINK the actual bolts
are done with a Mac program called AfterEffects, but I;ve also heard that
is is LW done. IF you want the find the previous discussion, check the
old message logs. :>
ANYWAY... I would do it by making a refractive shpere (say, 1.5 or so for
the Refraction Index), and simply put a lens flare in the middle with red
outter glow off (so the glow will be the color of the light, say, blue).
I think that'll do it.
I DO know that the space ship plasma bolts are done with a row of say 7
lens flares and motion blur. You parent the lensflares to a null, make a
pretty dense line, and move the end ones a little closer in. Do some
motion blur, and PRESTO! instant plasma bolts (I've tried it -- it
works). It only works well on certain angles, though, mainly side views.
